Where to get calendars printed? - 10-24-2006, 02:19 PM

I'm going to be making some calendars with pictures I've taken to give as gifts this year. My question is where can I get the calendars printed? I like the size of the large calendar at LuLu - 13.5" wide by 19" tall with the top half being a picture (13.5" x 9.5") and the bottom half being the calendar. The problem with them is I've heard some negative things about the paper they use - it's supposedly not very thick and sturdy. So, anyone know of some other place I can get a large calendar (larger than 8.5" x 11") printed and bound?

I got a couple calendars printed at Lulu last year and was extremely disappointed with the quality. Not only the paper thickness (I got the smaller size), but particularly the print quality. The images were grainy, the colors weren't very accurate, etc.

I also tried re-printing one of the calendars at Digilabs and the quality wasn't any better.

After these two negative experiences I was gunshy about trying any of the others so I ended up buying some two-sided paper and printing them myself which turned out much better.

Jeff, did you take the printed pages to somewhere like Kinkos to have them bound? What kind of binding, spiral?

Mpix is making calendars now. They have 12x18 size, and i just realized the price is the same as the smaller size. Check it out. I downloaded the software and plan to order a sample soon.

The ones I got made at Lulu last year were great. 13.5" wide x 19" tall and spiral bound. I don't remember the paper weight but it's far from thin. If your looking for slick, glossy then that's not what your gonna get. The paper has a texture to it but I was very pleased with the printing. Wish I was closer to you John. I'd be happy to show you exactly what I got from Lulu.

I have seen Calanders printed from Lulu and they look great! I have ordered items from Mpix and LOVE THEM! I cant see how they can go wrong! I think you can go to http://www.photoworks.com/calendars/...eb8&guest=trueand try them too. I ordered a portfolio book from them and I am HAPPY with it!

Kinkos charges $19.99 one photo per page, 2 photos per page is extra
Office Depot $17.99 same price if you add 2 photos per page
Walgreens I'm not sure on the price
I was wanting to do the same and check them out yesterday
