I was approached by a friend who knows that my girlfriend and I are into photography and trying to start a business and build our portfolio. We are going to take some pictures of her and her husband before she gives bith to her child. We were planning on doing some pix of her stomach with like an open button down shirt over it and also her husbands hands on her stomach.

i need some ideas on how to take these pix. I had thought about using a black background and using some kind of light source to light her stomach up.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Classic is probably the best way to go for your first time. Black background, white button-down shirt for mom-to-be and dad-to-be. Barefoot. You can do a single light source and use a reflector or fill flash, or even just natural light, if that's what you have more experience with. If you go through the people forum, you'll find several thread from folks who've done prenatal photography and posted their work. :)
