Arrow Book on posing? - 11-10-2006, 11:46 PM

I need either a good book on how to pose people or some tips or both. I've got some holiday family shoots coming up (not my family) and want them to be really nice. Any suggestions?

Go here and read some reviews on these books. There are several on posing for outdoors and for bridal portraits etc...

Start with one person, usually the grandma, put her at 45 is you can and then just keep adding people facing in. Babies go in the front/middle, then kids. Try to keep people's heads from being directly above each other, or right next to each other. Think of where their head will end up with you pose them. Check your details as best you can - stray hands are the worst. That's the short version anyway, here's a (cropped in) pic I took last Sunday, look at how they are posed. The one front/center is the birthday girl. I circled a few "opportunities."

Michelle, thanks for the response. I'm sorry, but somehow I missed it. Can repost your example?

Thanks.

Thanks, Jay. The first and third ones look good for what I'm going to be doing. Things I never would have thought about.

If you need quick helps, Amherst Media has lots of books with posing. They have images that help.

I PMed you the info we give our interns. Its more basic posing for 1-2 people. Don't know if it'll help.

Good luck!
