Okay, here's the deal.... I have a machine with 4Gb of system RAM, yet PS will not let me save a .jpeg because it says that I don't have enough memory. The exact message says, "Could not save a copy of <insert file path and name here> because there is not enough memory (RAM). Try saving without optimization or as a baseline JPEG." This is happening after a fresh boot. According to Task Manager I have TONS of system resources available.

What am I missing here?

What is running in the background? Their is a little freeware program at www.karenware.com call window watcher that will let you see what is running in the background. This may help find the memory hog. I edited this to add this info. Hope it helps.

I found the culprit. There's a setting in PS where you can tell the app how much memory it's allowed to take. Bumped the value and viola! It works.

And where exactly is that setting? Just in case.

Edit: Nevermind. Found it under preferences.
