"Glare" in My Pics !? - 12-07-2006, 09:22 AM

I've noticed that my soccer pics seem to have alot of glare in them. Particularly if you look at the contrast between the shirts and the lettering / numbers. What is going on? I began to notice this after I cleanerd my sensor a few months ago (Copperhill method). The lens on the camera is a brand new Canon f2.8 zoom.

Can anyone tell me what's wrong? I'm very frustrated and concerned!! Do I needto send my whole setup back to Canon or is there something that I've done that I can correct?

Let me be the first, to ask you to post an example... Kind of like asking the Dr. to diagnose your injury over the telephone.

I would love to post an example but no matter how many times I try to resize the pictures the forum rejects them. Very frustrating!!

What size are you resizing them to? I try to not get any larger than 800 pixels on the longest side.

If using PS. image size to 800 pixels on the longest side. 72 ppi. save as jpg quality 8.

Or if you have them hosted in a public viewable area we can go there to see them.

Are you using a lens hood at all?

I think this glare is probably lens flare from the lights on the field. A good lens hood is a requirement.

OK, I working on getting the pics on Snapfish. I'll post the link shortly. Snapfish asks for an e-mail address to share the pics with. How do I let the forum look at the album if I don't have an e-mail address to give Snapfish?

I use the hood that came with the lens. There were no lights as the pics were taken in the morning.

Captain Tom & Roy. Using your e-mail addreses that I found here I've added you to look at my Snpafish soccer album. Your thoughts please about the contrast problems. Could it be the sensor?

If you want to post on this public forum a link to your photos which are hosted on another online site, the other site (e.g., Snapfish) has to allow you to do this. If this is the way you want to post your photos and Snapfish does not permit direct linking, I recommend Photobucket (http://photobucket.com/).

TPF as a photo forum is even easier, however, in that you can upload your photos as Attachments directly from your hard drive; just resize them to 800x600 pixels and they will be nicely viewable online and their kb size will be under the maximum forum limit.

Good luck.

Question Forum FAQ - 12-07-2006, 04:14 PM

Many questions answered here:
http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum/faq.php

To add photos as Attachments to a post, look right under the "Reply Box" where you type your post in another section entitled "Additional Options." Therein, you will see a specific command set for uploading the photos from your own computer:

Valid file extensions: bmp doc gif jpe jpeg jpg pdf png psd txt zip
JPEG file size limit: 293.0 KB
Pixel size limit: 900x900 (800x600 is better)

Just use a Photo Editor to resize your photos to conform to the above requirements, and your photos will appear in your post.
