Friday in the evening I am going to be taking shots of my friends with their dogs. Kind of a late Christmas "Family" picture. It's just the two of them and their 2 German Sheppards. One is only a yearold, so she's still Hyper, but Keeping her Calm will be up to them. I'm not much of a photographer, but I'm their friend so I told them I'd give it a shot. (Actually........I don't even know if I was given the chance to say yes or no......hmmmmm)

Anyways, It will be around 4-5 that we will be taking the pictures. There's a Botanical style park in South Arlington we were going to go to.....Patriot park I THINK it's called. I'm not sure of the look this time of season, but just somethign for a background that isn't their house. If anyone else has another location near South Arlington feel free to advize. MY QUESTION is, are there any TIPS on posing or pictures of examples you could post? As far as lighting I will only have natural light (which I'd prefer to use 100%) and a 420ex flash. I'm pringing my 50mm lens for DOF, but I'll bring my 18-125 also. I'm looking for a good natural portrait look. ANY TIPS are welcome.....and frankly NEEDED for posing advice.

Do you have an umbrella and stand for the flash? If you can get it off camera it will make for more natural fill. Or if it doesn't work off camera maybe you can bounce the flash off a large reflector.

It would more be a challenge to control it than anything else. The 420 is more than powerful enough to bounce in an umbrella, but it is a full automatic flash, so you'd need some sort of TTL set up (either a 5x0 to act as an on-camera master, or a ST-2 remote controller)

All expensive, finicky and not something you want to try to learn between now and then.
