Tiled photos? - 05-14-2005, 11:48 PM

Does anybody know an easy way to create a page of tiled photos? My wife is trying to create a page of tiled photos in a brick-style layout. All the photos are going to be next to each other (no borders). To start out, she resized the photos to 1.5" wide, and pasted them individually into a larger page, laying them out in a brick-style pattern. But there must be an easier way.

Thanks,

Troy T.

I think you'll be OK, they have a thin candy shell. I'm surprised you didn't know that.

OK...if you're using Photoshop, just create a new document in whatever size you want, open the photos you want to tile on to it, and simply move them onto that new document using the move command. You can resize, etc., once you have them in that document.

Thanks Jesus. I thought of the method you described in Photoshop. I just thought there might be an easier method without resizing and pasting every photo. With an 11x14 page, and each photo being postage stamp size, there would be quite a few photos to resize. We actually had to try Pagemaker because PS Elements does not let you copy and paste. The only disadvantage is that our resulting document is a Pagemaker file.

I think some thumbnail viewer programs like breeze browser, infran view or the likes has a function to build a contact sheet with the selected photos. I have never used either of these, but Im sure there is a program to do this.

Maybe photoshop album 2 does this, but not sure

oh, forgot to ask, what is the desired end result of the tiled photos? is it to print, or display on the web or some other purpose?

Thanks James. The ultimate purpose is to create a photo montage to print for children's birthday parties. But we were trying to use smaller images to cram as many photos as possible into an 11x14 or larger. That many photos are a pain to place manually. I just thought there might be some easier way to do it. We may have to just do it manually. Contact sheets may work if they can print the images close enough together. I'll take a look at the programs you recommended.

Thanks,

Troy T.

Are all of the smaller images going to make one larger one or is this just something that will have a lot of small seperate images?

If you want the smaller seperate images try out http://www.lumapix.com/

It makes quick work out of collage type layouts as well as wedding flush mount layouts. Great program for scrapbookers to professional photographers and everyone between.

Thanks Mike! This program looks like it might be what I need. I downloaded a free trial, and I'll try it out tonight.

here is another program, and its free. It will do what you want it to.

you select the images you want to tile together, click the collage button, select the layout type and it builds it. I just did it with 36 pictures and it looks pretty good.
