One of our very own forum member, Sheldon's photograph. A shot after my own heart showing the important details of a bride during a wedding. Tweak it, twist it, turn it and have fun with it. Just be willing to give the rough steps on how you did it after you post the results.
This is not going to be a normal thing like on other forums, I just thought it would be fun to work with this image. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

Here is my version
Two actions (both blurs, one adds a sepia tone while applying a blur filter) darkened the edges (burned them), erased some of the blur roughly on the flowers and ring to bring back some of the detail.
Much more than I normally do on an image, but I think thats what got me interested in seeing what everyone else could come up with. (That is if they wanted too)

A PS expert Im NOT, but I'll play.
Adjusted levels to brighten the underexposed image, applied a small amount of Gaussian Blur to soften the image, used the history brush at about 50% Opacity to bring back some detail around the ring, flowers, and necklace, used a Half Sepia action, used the history brush again to bring back the color in the flowers, used the Burn Tool to darken the corners and added a simple border. Very quick and dirty (WAY past my bedtime  )

OK, I'll give it a try too.
Here's the photo:
1) Used levels to brighten overall image.
2) Used the feathered oval marquee tool to select the bouquet & applied a hue/saturation adjustment layer to bring out the color of the flowers.
3) Copied layer - applied gaussian blur (around 30.0), created a mask to mask out the bouquet & ring, & used screen blending mode at 50% opacity.
4) Used burn tool for the edges.
5) Flattened & duplicated layer & added radial blur (zoom, 10, best)
6) Again, another quick layer mask to block out the blur effect from the flowers & ring.
Looks like a lot when you write it out, but it doesn't take long to do.

That's a great shot...I'll see what I can do, but I've only got my work notebook with me (not calibrated - not that it matters much with a notebook display)! Not even sure if I've got all my PSCS stuff set up - I just have the basics.

Here's a manipulation technque I use quite often. Take a regular digital photo and turn it into a pencil drawing. I'll post some examples of mine in a seperate thread, but for now here ya go!
1) Desaturate the image. (SHIFT + CTRL + U)
2) Then duplicate that layer that was deasturated. (CTRL + J)
3) After that invert the image.(CTRL + I)
4) Next change the blend mode of the inverted layer to "Color Dodge".
5) Next go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur and cjange the setting to around 5 to 10.
6) Change the levels. (CTRL + L)
7) Dialog box should appear, then move the middle arrow (grey) to the right as much as you want, so it will satisfy your needs.

Funny.. mine is similar to Jeannie's... I did not study the others before doing this.
First, I used my automatic saturation to improve the colors a bit, then adjusted the brightness 15% and contrast 20%. Using an ellipse selection, selected flowers and hand with a feather of 10.. then inverted the selection.
Finally, did a radial blur.. type Twirl, strength 10, ellipse.
All this done with PSP 9

I think this is great, why won't it be a normal thing??? Anyway, here's my attempt using CS2.
-Selected flowers via Corel Knockout.
-Black and White Conversion to background layer via Nik Color Efex
-Slight difuse glow to background layer
-Opacity change of flower layer to %60.
-Slightly closer crop.
-Gradient mask to isolate bottom half of dress.
-Strong diffuse glow on bottom half of dress.
-Smart Sharpen on flowers.

Thought it was so much fun, I wanted to give it another go.
This time I wanted to try something pretty traditional. The steps are pretty much as the one I posted above, minus the Half Sepia Action and wanted a little tighter crop. I over-saturated on purpose to bring out more color in the flowers.

MyKey, Would you mind sharing more information on your actions (in fact, I'm not sure I even know what actions are). I love your image(images). And would love to try to duplicate the effect, only if you don't mind though.

No problem I have already posted them on the forum a while back, you will find about 95% of all actions I use, I have created a few but all in all these will do everything I do and more http://www.texasphotoforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=1964
The biggest key to my look is shoot RAW and lighten the blur layers!

Thanks MyKey, I even posted a message in that thread when it was new, but forgot all about it!

I desaturated, softened, sparkled, and softened again and added border.
