Engagement session in the rain - 01-19-2007, 04:25 PM

I scheduled an engagement session for tomorrow before the rainy forecast was known. I'll be shooting at a location that allows for both indoor and outdoor shooting. The bride-to-be has stated that not only would she not mind shooting in the rain, but she would like it. Sooo, I'll be picking up a pair of optech camera sleeves/covers to provide protection for my non-sealed cameras/lenses.

I'm actually excited this opportunity, but I've never shot in the rain, so if anyone can provide any rain session pointers, it would be greatly appreciated.

Use fast shutter speeds (you'll have to play around with the settings) to catch the rain drops as they fall and it looks really cool. Longer shutters even 1/50 and 1/60 tend to be a little on the slow side even for a nice blur effect. Sounds like a cool shoot. Post some pics after it happens!

No advice, but I can't wait to see your shots!

I think you'll be OK, they have a thin candy shell. I'm surprised you didn't know that.

If you want shots in heavy rain, it will be a light rain- and cold and rainy won't be near as much fun as just rainy.

I'd take an umbrella and maybe a butler to hold it for me while I shot.

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by,
and then it petered out and I had to retrace my steps and wasted half a day.
