Newborn Photoshoot Tips/ Suggestions

Hey All!

I have a newborn shoot next week and the mom is asking for some shots I usually don't do.

I was wondering if anyone had any tasteful shots of the mom and baby breastfeeding. She also requested a nude of the baby (not unusual) however, she wants me to superimpose the baby curled up nude, onto a shot of her pregnant tummy. Im assuming she saw these things somewhere.

Please tell me she did and there is some famous photog Im blanking on...Tips/ suggestions would help.

Ummm, Im have to get permission for the nudie forum.

Is that type of request mainstream and I just live in a prude hole? (Not the breastfeeding, but the rest of it). She requested several nudes. She gets about 6-7 poses and most she is requesting are nudes that has something to do with the baby and mom, brithing, or something like that. Just wondering.

i have seen the baby superimposed on the belly shot of mom. it's very neat... not somethign i'd do for myself, but i can se where someone would like it. my main problem with that is that unless the baby is alseep, it's difficult to get an infant to curl up in a cute little ball like that. they like to stretch those legs and arms out.

while not mainstream, it's not uncommon for them to want the nudes, breastfeeding, etc. since many people consider that to be such a special, intimate thing between mother and baby. she seems very on top of things and looks like she knows what she wants... unless it's something that is uncomfortable for you, just work with her! you've got the eye, she's got ideas.

lol.. i have never termed it "nudes of the baby"... it sounds so..."nude" when you say it that way. i just call then nekkid baby pictures. not naked... nekkid, complete with texas accent.

just be sure whatever you put hte baby on, you have a changing pad underneath... and the surface is washable. and don't point that baby's rear in the direction of anythign that can't be washed... you would be surprised how far infant poop can project (i guess you have adaughter... so maybe you would not be so surprised). i had one baby girl who peed on EVERYTHING. you would not think a child could hold so much in her bladder at once... but she did.

anyway... a beanbag or boppy pillow are helpful in gettng baby comfy and in good position for pics :)

for the breastfeeding pic, think angles... from above, straight on, and from below, looking up at mom, who is looking down at baby.

Holly, just fill out the form for it, its just cause you have to be 18 to enter.......I don't think we will get a huge amount of nude requests out here, but I think its pretty common in the bigger cities. Sounds like it will be a fun shoot.

My rememberance from long ago was that newborn babies can be discolored and the available light can be the most awful green fluorescents- so be prepared.
