Graduation pics. - 02-01-2007, 06:13 PM

Friend of mine wants me to take some pics of them for their graduation in May (I got some time to practice shooting them). As i'm not really good at shooting people, any tips? It's going to be and outside/nature thing and I have no external flash to use (so i'll need my reflector or I need to get a flash). Any pointers?

Find some shots you like, or better examples they like, and play around with trying to duplicate. A reflector is certainly nice, but not a necessity depending on your location and the weather. Ideally, if you can find an open shady area with some filtered light coming through maybe, you may be fine, or shoot on a light overcast day or near sunrise or sunset and you might find just the right lighting as is. Example...this shot of my daughter was taken just before noon last weekend. It's in the shade of a large oak tree, full sun in the sky, and no flash or reflector used at all. So, it can be done...and if you play around with it I bet you can get it right.

dont use flash if u dont need it.

when i shoot people, i dont like them posing and smiling at the camera,
i like to take pictures of them where they look amazing but they didnt know i was taking it.

I mean, i dont having anything against posing and all but, usually the best people pictures are when they dont know u took t he picture =)
