check the Locales section. Mercer Botanical Gardens (north Harris County) will be busting at the seams with flowers and nature shots in a month or so.

Single most important accssory you can add to your list will be a good, solid tripod.

How about Garden Center / Nursery type businesses? Probably look for the larger family owned type places that have lots of flowers and greenery year round. I know in Austin there are several of those...and I bet they wouldn't mind you taking a few pics. You could even give them any that come out nicely as a good favor.

Hi,

Not flowers and nature, but consider taking a day and going to the Forbidden Gardens in Katy. This might give you an idea of what it is: http://www.itakefotos.com/showthumbn...hp?category=29 Not good photos at all - this was before I stared really learning about photography<g> but this place is awsome. I would suggest doing it when the weather is reasonably cool so it won't kill you to be out in the sun for an hour or more! I think I lost 10 pounds during the tour (in August) which I unfortunately gained back later that day<g> My page has a link to their website so it might be a good start for further research if you are interested:) If not, just ignore;)

Best regards,

AP course for high school? if so which course? if it is the 2d studio i believe you can only submit photos in this section (not studio drawing, double check that though) as far as ideas you dont need to go far for good photos. since these photos will be used for your concentration... what about the flowers? flowers are nice, but what are they saying (meaning, message). it would be nice if you could do this. in other words your concentration should not just be flowers, nature. it should be something like flowers in a hostile environment. or nature in the big city etc. this way you can give the viewer something to build upon. these photos will be viewed together. AND ITS GETTING LATE FOR CONCENTRTIONS!!!! PORTFOLIOS DUE FIRST WEEK IN MAY! show a progression in photos... i.e. are you learning as you go? improving? changing directions? last word of advice USE your principles and elements of art. you should know what they are. good luck!

I have been to Mercer Botanical Gardens (http://www.hcp4.net/mercer/) a couple of times. The garden has a large collection of flowers and small pools of water. Its a place you would really enjoy.
