Adobe are running a deal for Canon users at the moment, $299 for a full, registerable copy of Photoshop CS2 with manuals etc as long as you have a bundled copy of Elements supplied with a Canon product:

I've no idea if this is applicable to other makes etc, I only have this link. It is not supposed to be valid for copies of Elements purchased separately.

I can say a couple of things about this that I know are true:
1) It's a real offer from Adobe that they will honor - my copy arrived yesterday (too excited - quite sad really!) :D
2) The website link doesn't work properly for actually placing the order (I put my bundled PS Elements serial number in and the full price came up - I've no idea if it discounts further on, I wasn't risking it!)
3) If you ring up and ask the sales person about it, they will find the deal (this may take a while) and place the order - this is what I did.

$600 was too rich for me for the processing I do - $300 was tempting enough to treat myself.

SWEET!! I have been dreading my CS2 purchase, but this makes it palatable. I just wish I didn't spend the money upgrading elements to version 3 a few months ago.

If you're a college student, you can also get Adobe products at a discount (as well as many others, including Macromedia). PS CS2 is $300, and the entire Creative Suite 2 (normally $1000-1200) is $400. I'll be picking the whole CS2 package up from my school's bookstore in a couple weeks after I get my PowerBook. :D
