I have canon D20 and 580EX flash.

When I try to take two or three shot in sequence my flash does not recharge that fast.
I have try with different setting like f4 with 1/60, 1/80, 1/200 but same thing.
try with f11 and different speed but same thing.

is there something in flash that I can setup for fast recharge? I can't seems to find combination.

A fresh set of batteries along with a large aperture (f4, maybe greater) and small distance to suject will increase the flash rate - maybe even enough to get three shots in sequence. If all else fails there are external battery packs for the 580EX that will be able to keep up.

i am not familliar with that flash unit, but there should be a "multi" setting to it will fire off the flash multiple times to get each exposure in burst mode.

Batteries are in a problem because I can take about 500 shot with same batteries. just that charging is not fast. or may be I have to use some other combination.

Though as the batteries drain, the recycle time gets slower and slower. The external battery packs will give you much better response - they typically cost about $300-$500 per pack from what I remember. The other real option is mains powered studio strobes.

Akaline batteries (Duracell, etc) will tend to recharge the flash faster as they have a higher cell voltage (1.5vdc per cell) as opposed to NiMH (typical rechargeable) having only 1.25vdc per cell.

The difference however will diminish as each type drops output voltage with usage.

Also, the akalines will almost always be stronger at the onset of usage. NiMH will have self-discharged a bit or a lot, depending on how long it has been since they were recharged and the total number of times they have been recharged. So your NiMH may not even be at 1.25v when you start.

I think this is what you want it provides the flash a faster recycle time and a longer life

Arlington Camera rents them for 5.00 per day. I charge it before the wedding and it will last thru the entire event
Houston Camera is probably similar

I went to shoot in one reception. Guy name Tomas (few might know him) was there as well. He does takes three or four shot at a time he was using nikon. Is it different? he had a flash on camara with four nimh battires + one extra battires. Does that make big different?
he says he uses 2.8 + faster shutter speed that make sense but why my top of the line canon flash recycle fast?

Get you the Canon external battery pack. Can't remember the model #....it holds 8 AA's and recycles fast and lasts a LONG time. '

What he also didn't tell you is that he probably bumped up his ISO to probably 400 or even 800. These ISO's don't require much light for proper exposure.....therefore less output on the flash which in turn allows it to recycle faster.
