Why are my skin tones coming out RED?!! - 03-08-2007, 08:12 PM

I've got two canon 20d's - one of them is giving me big problems in Manual mode.

The skin tones are super duper red. I tried on ISO 400, 600 , 800 and 1600 and i get the same thing over and over...LOTS of noise to make it even worse....

I'm not getting this on my other 20d....what am I doing wrong?

I"m the only one home so quickie self-portrait is all i have to go with since the skin tones are wayyyyy off...obviously.

It looks like the white balance is off to me.

alright guys...i need some direction here.

The manual says that I should shoot something that's totally white if I don't have a white balance card and to set the custom wb...so i did.

On the camera display, the skin tones look perfect.
but once i load that file into PS or look at it in explorer, i get the same junk.

How do i "reset" as you all suggested?

duh..nevermind i just found the reset option.....

Thanks! I needed that! I'm so slow, it takes me an hour and a half to watch 60 minutes.

When I shoot in manual w/out the flash , the skin tones appear red. Add the flash and the problem is gone.

My concern is that I"m shooting in a church on Sat. where no flash photography is allowed.
I'd like to shoot in manual, but i'm lost as to what my settings need to be to get the white balance correct.
