I like it...it's a bit dark, but I really like it. It has a great "mood" to it - partly because of the darker tone!

Very nicely done.

I like the shot. The yellow flowers are a nice touch.

I'm guessing you used a soft light layer? Did you use a blank gray layer for dodge/burn, or a duplicate layer with some gaussian blur? I think maybe I see some signs of this along the upper and left side of the barn, where it seems a bit lighter than it should be.

Very nice. Do you remember how you metered for this picture by any chance? I'm still learning how to get good exposures....

Looks like it has a neat etheral "glow" to it.

I can just picture faeries running around in the flowers.

Nice shot!

How about a look at the original?? It would be insightful to see the original juxtaposed with the final product...

I like this shot...the mood is set well, but I agree that the yellow flowers add a nice impact to the picture.

Great shot, love the colors.

I just noticed you're in Magnolia. I grew up there.

yeah, i live in good ol' magnolia :)

that's so neat that you lived here, i'm used to forums where people live across the world.

i didnt use any layers for this one, just some slight levels bumping and burning. the barn is purposefully lighter than the rest of the image. It's merely a matter of burning in areas and not in others. I'll post the original when i can (i'm not at my computer) .

I always slightly underexpose my shots slightly, unless i'm shooting film. I underexpose it just enough to get a slightly greater contrast without losing detail in the shadows (I usually do that in PS :) ). I metered it at -0.3 eq instead of 0. sometimes i do 0.7 with black and white. it's easier to get detail out of a slightly (although you can't usually tell) dark image than it is to get out of a blown out overexposed one.
