You might want to get a blower - I use this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...ughType=search

Then try blowing the dirt off the sensor. If that doesn't work you can get the Copperhill cleaning supplies and do it that way.

Read the tutorial. Then either get the eclipse fluid (methanol), lens wipes and make your own "spatula" or just buy their ready made "basic cleaning kit" that has everything you need for about $30. Easy as pie!

The three methods that I use, safest first (although all are safe):
1 - Rocket blower
2 - A sensor brush like the ones from Visibledust
3 - Sensor Swabs wetted with a couple of drops of Eclipse fluid

I use the rocket blower followed by the Visible Dust Arctic Butterfly brush.

I follow this same process but I can't remember the last time I had to use step 3.

I used to use the Rocket Blower and then Eclipse fluid. Now I use the blower and if that doesn't work, I use a SensorKlear by LensPen. It is incredibly easy and it's okay to take it on an airplane (unlike Eclipse fluid.) I have never tried the brush method.

More about SensorKlear here: http://www.lenspen.com/?cPath=1&prod...=SK-1&tpid=146

I also use the LensPens for cleaning all my lenses and my eyeglasses. I have several and I dedicate them to only one use. The one for my sensor looks different from the others so I never make the mistake of using it on a lens or anything else.

I got an ear syringe from Wal-Mart for about $2.50 or $3.00. It is smaller that the rocket syringe and does the same thing. I take the lens off and flip up the mirror, turn the camera where the opening is down and then take the syringe and blow it up into the camera and all the "stuff" comes out due to gravity. This seems to work and I haven't had to use a sensor cleaner. It is pretty dry and dusty up here and I have been pleased with this method, so far. Also, CS2 is good after the fact.

I am a little apprehensive about messing with my sensor chip so I am not going to do it unless I have to.

Thanks all for the advice. I think I am going to start with a blower and go from there.

I am so glad there are many out there with more experience then me.

If you're going to get a blower, I'd recommend the Rocket Blower mentioned previously.

Learn from my bad experience. I had a Hakuba blower that I guess had some sort of oil inside it, either a molding release agent or something to keep it from drying out. Ended up spraying junk on to the sensor, rather than blasting dust off of it.

Clean the sensor well in advance. Have the copperhill method ready to go as a back-up.

I agree with the rocket blower....I bought the Eclipse sensor cleaner from copper hill. I also got their sensor swipe. I wasnt impressed with it. I got the sensor swabs insted. I prefer those MUCH more then the sensor swipe.

Another thing about the rocket is that it's intake is at the rear of the bulb. Most other blowers blow out the nozzle and then suck in the dirt they just released from your lens or sensor back into the bulb.

I just ordered the large rocket blower from B&H, so I'll have it in a few days. Thanks for the advice.
