sRGB VS aRBG - 05-02-2007, 05:45 PM

nikon defaults the D200 to sRGB, but many recommend changing to aRGB. There is a looong discussion on this over at DPReview, but they got off track. I understand it matters not if you shoot raw, but what about when shooting jpeg? What is the concensus?

Everything I have heard says to just the widest gamut your camera will support because you never know when you will have devices that can use the extra colors. Printers now can print aRGB colors.

Shooting jpg only, use aRGB.

Shooting RAW only, doesn't really matter.

Shooting RAW + jpg, I use sRGB so I can give the jpg images to the customer as proofs on the spot.

YMMV.

Thanks, the question was never really answered at DPR, with the usual insults and maniacal responses. Jeff Kohn got involved, but not on the original question.
