a receptive mind, a mind which has seen what can be done and then seeks it's own voice. To that end I can not recommend too highly the following DVD's. They are famous photographers talking about their contact sheets and why they take on image over another. It's interesting to see Cartier-Bresson's contact sheets. He shoots a lot of film for that "decisive moment." Helmut Newton looking 4000 nudes sees two images never printed before which he picks for a Diptych to show at the Biennale.

(still waiting on)

A sensitized mind is the most import equipment a photographer can have.

I have seen the one on Cartier-Bresson. He was an amazing photographer. I love the part in the film where he said he sat there pointing his camera at those stairs all day waiting for that girl to come into the frame.

Whatever you’re looking for is looking for you, too. The catch, of course, is recognizing it when it pops up in front of you.
