need some photo extraction assistance - 06-20-2005, 02:00 PM


i'm decent when it comes to photo extracton, but when it comes to photos with hair i'm horrible. i took this photo right after my son's bath and we towel dried his hair. i would like to touch up this photo and extract him so i can make a desktop wallpaer for my wife & i.

would ya'll be so kind as to give me some help?

I am no pro, but here is my shot at it. I think you can clone out some of the spots I left. That pic to cute, I love that hair.

WOW :shock: That is a great job with the hair..My I ask,,,How? Is it a technique in Katrin Eismann book Masking and compositing

that is a great job! thanks for the extraction, but i really want to learn how to do it.

here's my poor attempt using the extraction tool in PS CS2. this is the best i can do, but as you can see parts of his hair do not turn out the way i would like.

Thanks! I did not do to much, corel knockout did most the work. It is great software try it out for your self, I dont know if there a demo or not but it is worth the price, it work's with photoshop as a plug-in. That extraction would take me a lone time if I had to do it without the plug-in.

3 minutes? That is pretty fast, it would just take a few more minutes to clean it up some. I dont have PS CS2 I just have PS 7, but look like PS CS2 has a pretty good extraction tool. I dont think you need to much help, yours looks good for only 3 minutes of work :D

Ok, we need a new section if it's not already there on how tos....I got PSCS2 and the only thing I would have used the magic eraser or background eraser because I didn't know about extraction. great job on these images though

there are plenty of PS tutorial site. some cover simple extraction, but i have not seen one that has helped me.
