Panorama Ratios and Printing - 06-21-2007, 05:35 PM

What is the best ratio to shoot for when doing panoramas? I have the D200 and am wondering how you can get the ratio, say 3:5? When you take the photos I know you need to overlap the images some so how do you keep the 3:5 ratio if that is what you were looking for? Several years ago I took 9 shots of Denali and when I printed I could only do a 1'tallX7'wide print. I want prints more like 3'X5' or somthing to that extent. Also, to accomplish this, will I have to shoot multi row shots?

a 1:3 aspect ratio fits a common 12" x 36" poster frame.....I typically just crop to get it altho cropping a stitched pano would give the same results.

Shooting with canon raw I did a pano with 5 shots in a single row of a copper strip mine. It is just shy of three feet tall and nearly eight feet long. I covered about 20-25% of the previous pic with each shot. Than used PSCS2 to put them together.

Hope that helps a little.
