Couple of shots come to mind -

1) the look on the golfers face after a drive, with the club over the shoulder - you know that look on the face that says "get some wings ball! just a little more to the right" -

2) not sure if this is pratical, but I'd like to see a slower shutter speed shot of a full swing - with some blurring of the club head 1/2 or 3/4 way through the swing? You could try rear-curtain flash sync to get the blur and a crisp(er) image of the head..

just some ideas..

I was asked to take a few photos at a company sponsored golf outing. Most were not golfers, but we had fun anyway.

Here's one that I took and my husband combined into a collage.

And here's one that tells a story. So close!

I was advised by a guy that shoots golf tournaments professionally to use a long lens so as not to disturb the golfers with the shutter click, so I used my 100-400. I was able to get a lot of shots that they never knew I was taking. Great for blackmail...

Another good one is a putting series from the perspective of the hole. You have to have a willing golfer to let you do this one with a wide angle. The hole is large in the foreground and you get three or four shots - the golfer squatting down and looking ... just ready to hit the ball... the ball rolling toward the hole and just teetering over the edge of going in the cup. Then get the grin on the golfers face. I tried a few of these but on the ones I tried, they missed the hole. 'Course I got blamed. But the other golfers always let him try again with no penalty.

Patti

Golf courses make great landscape shots if you can get there really early in the morning.

My whole family golfs and that I where I take the majority of my "nature" shots.
They are usually great for wildflowers, birds, and butterflies - and golfers.
I also took all the "action" shots of my father's high school golf team - just be sure that you are not a distraction to the other golfers and you should be fine.
