Oooh, a dude ranch would be great! I love ranches and stuff like that!

I'm using CS2, but I have CS3. We are supposed to load it this weekend. I just need to make space on my computer, first. I only have around 6% left...ugh!

Yeah, I loved film and slides and if it wasn't for trying to compete and make deadlines, I probably wouldn't have taken the plunge. I will say, now I'm loving it, but it's making me lazy. I still try and make my exposures as perfect as possible, but if they aren't, I say...pfft, I can fix that in photoshop. My biggest issue I'm having is if I'm shooting jpegs and the colors are kind of off due to the ambient light. I use color balance and hue/saturation, but it doesn't always get it just right. I'm looking forward to being able to use the sliders in raw for my jpegs on CS3. That's the main reason I wanted that program. Also, I'm hoping to be able to use my raw presets with my jpegs (I have to shoot jpegs with Bella).

Lol, the bootcamp at the dude ranch is sold out. I will actually be in some other state, I think Minnesota, on the 7th shooting a wedding, anyway.

I shot it with a sigma 70-200 with a 2x teleconverter. It just does not seem to have the detail I see in other wildlife shots.
The general rule of thumb when using TC is step down at least 1 stop to 2. Depend on which lens.

You were shooting with F5.6, that's wide open aperture for your combo (F2.8 + 2 stops effective with TC) which is probably the least sharpness aperture of any lens. So you can try F8 (next stop) or F11(next 2 stops) to increase sharpness.

The single biggest factor in getting a sharp picture is using an appropriate tripod and using it appropriately.

Everything else is gravy.

Figures... his stuff is very popular. Good for Kevin Kubota though...

Wow... you're quite the traveler... That's awesome...

I have the lens and TC combo that you used, in the Nikon mount.

That lens alone is exceptional in sharpness and clarity, arguably one of Sigma's best.

With their TC added, however, it loses a LOT very quickly, in all respects except focus speed, and I try as much as possible to avoid using it.

My presumption is that even though that TC is in their EX line, the glass isn't as good.

I hope you don't mind another attempt. All the corrections were made using CS2 and some actions I made using tools within CS2.
