I've never taken a class through them, but I do have Peterson's book Understanding Exposure and it has a lot of good info.

I have the book and have learned a lot from it, so I was thinking the course (which is supposedly taught by him and another photographer) would be excellent as well ...

I want to take that course, but haven't done it yet. He's a really great photographer, plus a really nice guy. Before he started his school, I had the opportunity to e-mail him a few times and always got a response with my questions answered.

Anne, my wife took a course from PPSOP but I'm not sure which one it was. I do know that she enjoyed it and learned quite a bit from it. I'll tell her to get on here and post about it.

I've taken a couple of his classes through betterphoto.com before he left to form/ be part of ppsop.com

I have mixed feelings about them. I really like his books. He seems like a decent guy. Always helpful in response to emails.

The lessons/assignments on the course were very well written too. The problem is that web based teaching is tough to get anything really meaningful from. Each picture gets a paragraph or two comment from Bryan. Depending on your level of knowledge, these will either be helpful or fairly superficially obvious.

I've been very spoiled to know and now be friends with a couple of fantastic photography teachers. My own view is that if you can get to a workshop or take a class with a good teacher, it'll be a huge improvement over a couple of comments on a forum - even if they are from someone who takes fantastic pictures

So that's the pluses and minuses - good assignments, good materials, poor interaction (Just because of the medium)

I did take a course through PPSOP but, it was not one of Bryan Petersons. I took a course by Jeff Wignall, just a basic class that covered a lot in a short amount of time. It was the Joy of Digital Photography. I really enjoyed it and Jeff was great. We got a lot of feedback on our assignments and a lot of information in his lessons. I liked it enough to consider taking another class, I do have to say though, I wish Jeff was teaching another one. I'm sure with each one, it depends on the personality of the photographer teaching it. Good luck if you decide to take and let us know how it goes. By the way, I am LPFyreDawgs wife, Dawn.
