Glyceryrin , where to buy ? - 11-07-2007, 02:37 PM

Sorry if I asked this before but I can not find the thread. I was looking to do some artistic shots indoors today and went on a hunt to buy some glyceryin for some dropplet shots. I went to Walmart, CVS and Walgreens. Nothing to be found. Where the heck do I buy this stuff ?

Any pharmacy should have it. Might have to ask for it to find it.

I used to get small bottles at a walgreens by me but they stopped carrying it.
Used to be with the face cleansing products.
Too many terrorists shopping at walgreens maybe???
You can find big bottles on the net though.

Wow, they do not have it at walmart. You might want to check a hospital, they usually have small stores in them that carry that type of stuff.

It may be behind the counter. Also health food stores carry it.

It is not at many of the chain pharmacies - I tried finding some several months ago to no avail and Target wouldn't even special order it for me. Someone suggested a pharmacy in North Dallas that is an old-time, non-chain. The name escapes me right now, but it is at Preston and Royal. They still do some hand compounded prescriptions. I'd check and see if you have a little mom and pop pharmacy near you - they are most likely to have it or to be able to get it for you.

I just went out in quest of some and found it at HEB. It was on the aisle with the First Aid items. It's in a short, fat 6 oz bottle with a pink label. The pharmacist told me where to find it. At my HEB it was on the top shelf right next to cod liver oil (ICK-O).

Good luck,
p

glycerin is completely benign. Not dangerous, poisonous or suspicious.
Not much call for it apparently, so the big box stores don't carry it.

Did not think of that isle! Thanks.

Thanks for all the input. Now lets see some glyceryin shots, lol... I will post some after I get my hands on it.

You don't really *need* glycerin, but it will make your bubbles last longer. Also, if you're using it for water droplet shots, it helps the drops hold a more spherical shape for a longer period of time.

Any place that carries cake decorating supplies ought to have glycerin.
