Is this something you try to avoid at all costs or do you find it acceptable and if so how much? I get more of this with the wider angles but it doesn't bother me. In fact there are some photos Ilike it in. I'd like to hear your thoughts about lens flare.

Thats funny Roy ! I just shot a wedding with my wide angle along with my flash on a monopod held above differnt subjects and I was trying to get lens flare. I love it, but it works well with some and not with others!

Lens flare can add to a shot, most definitely. As the viewer I think when I see that flare that the sun was coming brightly into the shot. It can intimate a piercing light at sunrise, perhaps cutting through the cold, brisk air.

It certainly has its place.

Lens flair is one of those things that if used correctly makes a photo stand apart, rising above the technically adequate photograph to become art.

Here is one of my favorite lens flare shots I have gotten....(from a skit performed at an Indian Wedding).

Matter a fact, my Blog is titled, "Lens Flare". LOL
