Your opinions on Noiseware? - 07-21-2005, 10:41 PM

I just discovered the links for the freeware, and have been trying out a few noise reduction programs. I think I like the GUI of Noiseware the best so far. I'd like your opinions on the quality of the work it does, though.

Here are three pictures - The original and two levels of noise reduction.

I think the 'night scene' one is the best... The last one looks a little too plastic-y or something.

Any thoughts / opinions?

I use the default settings in Noiseware on any photo at ISO400 and higher for my Canon 300D. I think it's a fine program -- really improves many shots; somehow it often improves the sharpness as well. I dunno how.

I bought the standard edition for a few more features, but primarily so it will retain the EXIF data which the freeware version will not.

I use Noiseware too but I feel like it loses too much detail at times. It's probably user error. I finally bought the standalone version so I could save back to TIFF. I don't usually use Noiseware until ISO 800. I guess I don't mind a little bit of noise. I really can't tell much difference between your 2 photos above -- sorry I am not much help!

I have been trying lots of noiseware programs. I have been using Noise Ninja. I tried it and here is the result. I just did the default setting. You can also download settings specifically for your camera. I also like Neat Image.

Hi,
I have Noiseware, the standalone version. Comparing the two, I think the Noise Ninja is is the best. I downloaded the free trial of Noise Ninja, but i cant seem to get it to work. I'm sure user error.
