suggestions?

Hi its been a year since I posted =/ but I had a questions ive been meaning to ask for a while.
My friend has an Electronic Music Event which he asked me to go and snap some shot of the crowd djs and what not mm I think so far ive done an ok job but id like to do an even better job the problem is that the place is really dark.. so what settings would be the best to use in such a dark place? or maybe a faster lens? on these ones I used a tamron 28-75 f2.8

I can't read any EXIF data, but I would drag the shutter (shutter speed 1/30-1/10) let in ambient. Carrying the 50/1.8 (if you are Canon, Nikon 50/1.8 if then) would give you a nice fast prime too... (The lens in both Canon and Nikon varieties run under $125.)
