Tri Coast Proofing Issues - 12-28-2007, 09:07 AM

I bought the finding colors proofing from Tri Coast. Finally getting around to using the "proofing" action. It won't work because it tries to save it in "F"...drive. I have my external drive as K...Is there anyway to change this somehow? I tried to change the name of the drive to K...no go. I t would be nice to be able to use the action.....any suggestions?

(Sorry for duplicating this post...wasn't sure where to put it)

Yes, you can change where you want to save your files after using this action. The way I did it was the same way I changed the settings for the size. I clicked (or double-clicked) that portion of the action in the actions window. It should then bring up a window to save the file. You have to actually save the first one manually like this before running the action. At least that's how I did it. Mike may be able to tell you otherwise.

Whatever you’re looking for is looking for you, too. The catch, of course, is recognizing it when it pops up in front of you.

In general, double-clicking a step in an action runs that step in 'record' mode, saving the selections/options you make as the new settings for that action. You have to actually have a file open for the action step to operate on, though.

In the specific case of a Save step in an action, if you're running the action in a batch then you can use the option to "Override Action Save As Commands". Then, the output folder you use in the Batch window will be used instead of whatever path was saved in the action command.

Another option, check the little box next to that step, that turns on the dialog/prompt so that when you get to the save step it will open the save dialog. That may not be what you want for batching, but in some cases it can be useful.
