I'm pondering over the lack of color and am wondering if I like it or not. This is a simple "like it or not"....no need to be smart about photography....either you like it or don't???? (I atached the color one so you can see what it looks like)

I like the lack of color shots. I think this one would be better cropped?

I like top. Almost looks colorized. Crop of course, not a good environmental. Add a little fill flash for the face and a catchlight in the eyes next time.

I think the crop is better, but still don't like the dead-center positioning of the kid.

I don't either, unfortunately I haven't had any clients so far that like it when I center it somewhere else besides the center. I have decided they are mostly conservative and like the norm!!!

When I have a crop like that for clients I center more the whole body including the foot and ground just a little, more on top than on bottom. Move slightly to the left and bottom in other words.

I actually liked it better without the cropping..I think it looks more like a natural picture.

I like the lack of color, I have been working on these type photos lately and like the effect. If you ever shoot a graveyard and do it, it comes out with just the right feeling I think.

I like steves cropped version :)

I think she needs a bit if fill on her face, I always use a curves mask layer and paint in some light :) just enough, though.

Also, on the note of your clients not liking it...don't stray from what you want your art to be. if you let them influence your work, it won't be yours anymore and you'll find yourself wanting to always please the client instead of growing in your style. :)

So Christie, help me out...I had one photo, I cropped with the kids on the side...the Mom said, "I like the picuture, but can you put them in the center? It looks funny with them on one side?" So what would you say? This is almost the exact conversation from the Mom on her Christmas photo? I know what you mean about letting them tell you what to do? That is one of my new years resolution----"I'll try one photo your way, but I'm the photographer, and we will do another one, the way I think is right"

ANother Christmas photo, of 22 family members, the lady wanted to take them inside....you know that lovely photo, where some sit on the sofa and the rest stand behind?? So when we were done, we did the individual photos outside in front of "the lake". Guess which ones they loved and which ones stunk!! I should have pushed harder...Lesson # ???? in learning to be a photographer!!!
