A tutorial online talks about this but I don't remember where it is, and I tweaked it for me a little. Create two adjustment layers, one make it a screen blending mode, the second multiply. The screen mode will be for the color in the iris and the whites, the multiply will be for the pupils. use ctrl i on each one of the layer masks to invert it to white and then paint with the black brush over the eyes. Adjust your opacity of each layer to your liking, on this photo maybe around 30-40%. If you want a little more pop after that try using the burn tool around certain parts of the outside of the eye and then where the iris and the white meet, but use it sparingly, too much will look like heavy mascara. I actually created an action to create all the layers and then another layer mask with sharpening so I could not use sharpen on the eyes, since it makes them too dark for me after these adjustments. Hope this helps!

Thanks John, This is good stuff. Guess, what I really want is the perfect out the camera to print photo. Dreaming, this is really good. I'm going to try it tonight.

Thanks for the edit and website. These are really good actions and the cost figure is in-line. Take it you bought the Eye Doctor and Dentist. I really like this. Still learning actions, have several and they are tremendous time savers.

- As mentioned before I quess I dreaming wanting an out the camera perfect picture. Question, You have 2 subjects as I did. One is closer to the camera than the other as in this photo.
... Where is you focus lock for exposure targeted on
--- And since you're using Nikon I'm going to really pick you brain. On your portrait shots. Are you using Matrix, Center Wieghted or spot.
I'm using the D80 so not sure if the menu system is the same as yours. CS#2-AF-area what mode would you suggest with this photo Single, Dynamic

Understand that lense's make all the difference in relation to the type of glass used. I know I'm only quoting Johnathon but I'm asking everyone. Again thanks

1. Shoot wide & stop down to get both in acceptable focus area
2. Doesn't matter, whichever works for you. Best would be a light meter.
3. No idea.

I'd recommend reading up on Understanding Exposure. It'll answer a lot of your questions.

Thanks, you're correct very good book. Have it read it twice. Trying to get a feel for techniques others used to get that POP action. Been really experiementing with a low shutter speed 1/30 with flash and strobe. Like the results but it seems the photos are a little soft out the camera. And having trouble getting that crisp/pop look come out on the eyes. Trying to figure out how much the focus lock affect the picture. On the light meter, you right on with this. Recently purchased a Sekonic meter and the results have show a 180 turn around.
