SB 600 issue - 03-06-2008, 04:53 PM

I just got a SB 600 for my Nikon D50, I went to try it out but nothing came up, i read and found out it was compatible for CLS and said not compatible with didgital SLR? Is there a different SB 600 thats SLR compatible or like a setting on the one I bought?

I think it would be best to go to the Nikonian forum, they can help you with the problem. They also have section for the D50 users. One more, if you have any questions about compatibility call the Nikon number: 800 645 6189. (I think the number is correct). Good luck!

Phil

We just bought one (SB600) today for the wife's Nikon D50 and it flashes. I am trying to figure out all of the settings and how it works with the camera - right now it is washing out the photos a bit, but I am sure that problem is the operators, lol. We are currently diving into the manual - probably should have done that first.
What did you mean by "nothing came up" it doesn't do anything at all, or is there something that shows up on the camera that I might be missing? Will let you know if/when I figure my end out.

Jeremy

Also, according to the manual, the D50 is compatible with CLS. (all of the digital Nikons except for the D100 series are compatible) This is straight out of the Nikon SB-600 manual.

Here's what ya do -

Hold down zoom + the minus (-) button for 3 seconds a a menu should pop up. Fiddle with that for a while and you'll figure out how to set it to remote.

Holding them down again returns you to the main screen - if you see values for channel and group, then you're good to go.

In your menu settings on your camera, go to flash--> commander mode. make sure you set group and channel to the same values on the sb600.
