throwing my whitey tighties over the flash has the same effect too. Plus you get the benefit of an added breeze.

Eric, eww! I was thinking along the lines of an old sock.

I use the Fong Lightsphere II, which I've found to work well in most situations. Because it looks a bit like Tupperware, it is also handy for storing leftovers. Its size can also scare away small children. Your results may vary.

I read about the film canister about a 1.5-2 years ago in Pop Photo. Never did it though, liked my coffee filters/rubber bands instead. Worked for me until I got my 430EX.
