10" X 10" albums.... do they exist?? - 04-10-2008, 01:02 PM

I'm looking for a 10" X 10" album.... do these exist?

I'm putting together a portfolio consisting of all 8" X 10" photos, but they are assorted horizontal and vertical layouts, so I don't want to use a 8.5" X 11" album, because you'd have to turn the album everytime to look at the horizontal images.

If I have to, I'll get a 12"X12" album, but I'd rather not, they're too big.

If you know of where I can find a 10" X 10" album, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks!

This is a very high end album company, but they can do anything you want.

If your talking about the scrapbooking type albums to mount your work on the paper and then slide it in the sheets... 10x10 are VERY rare.. only ones I've seen are from renisance art and are about $175!!

Go with the 12x12... it will give you the freedom to mount your photos horizontal or vertical.. and they are easier to tote around with you than you'd think.. I have a basic black album with black pages I got at jo-ann's fabric. It came with 10 sheets and I bought 10 more, and a roll of double-sided sticky squares to mount them - and it was around $20...

I think the 12x12 is a good suggestion! An 8x10 photo in a 10x10 book will have excess page on the short side and none on the long side. Mount the same in a 12x12 and you'll have 1-inch margin on top and bottom and 2-inches each on left and right. That will look better, in my opinion.

If you're looking to create a portfolio with prints you already have, maybe try the TAP album http://www.tap-usa.com/Default.aspx at HCE. I'm just not sure what sizes they carry there.

I'm not sure if this would be an option for you but Mpix does have 10x10 hardcover albums up to 50 sides (more pages & book cover available at Millers Professional)
http://www.mpix.com/productsinfo.aspx?prod=21

I did this when I was just starting out to show potential wedding/engagement clients my work. I also used it as sample albums for people seeking 'budget friendly" package options...

Yes, what your looking for exists.

Try www.albumsinc.com. Also get a copy of RangefindeR Magazine. You'll find album distributers in their classified section.

When photographers were shooting film we would get REVERSIBLE wedding albums. You got a cover set, leaves and INSERTS. The inserts were about 12x12 with an 8x10 mat. This allowed proper viewing (horizontal or vertical) without turning the book. They are not cheap.

I always used Holson but others are Camille, Tap, Florentine, Art Leather.

www.rangefindermag.com - subscription is free

Also the album covers were available without wedding inscriptions and in various leather colors like white, brown, black, blue.

10x 10" is a very standard sized album. I use 10 x 10 RTB's, Bon Match, TAP and others regularly. It is by far one of my most popoular sizes of albums.

I get 90% of my stock from Albums, Inc.

I use a TAP Premira 10x10 and a TAP Mira 10x10. I love them both.
