Need to print 8X10"s... - 04-14-2008, 05:53 PM

Where would you suggest would be the best place to have 8X10's printed? I don't have a photography business, so I'll have to pay consumer pricing.

Any suggestions for the most inexpensive location/website to have these printed? shutterfly.com, etc?

Thanks!
Monica

Mpix.com. Very reasonable, excellent quality, multiple paper options.

Well, after joining Mpix, uploading my photos going through all the options to place an order I finally arrived at the screen to enter payment information. After all that, they don't take American Express. Any other way to order through Mpix or can you recommend another high quality vendor with similar pricing structure to Mpix?

I typically print from Adorama and have been very pleased. 8X10's are $1.99.

I have heard that Pounds has a good reputation. I am going to have to figure this one out since my local lab is closing in June. YIKES!

If you want consumer 8x10s, what's wrong with Wal-Mart, Sam's, Wolf/Ritz, or the closest place to your house?

Or buy a printer and some paper & do it yourself.

for consumer photos i would go to the closest HEB and meet the photo crew and tell them what you are looking for, the folks i work with know my preferences and usually get it right first shot and you can get 8x's in less than an hour. if i am not in a huge rush i have had really good luck with PRO PHOTO in florida for packages and buttons etc...

For inexpensive local prints I've heard very good things about Costco. For on-line printing it's MPIX.

Typical print from Ritzpix.com are OK but if you try to get something special printed then they will mess it up. I stitched a panorama in PSE and tried to get it printed from Ritzpix.com. They zoomed it and cut it off. CRAP! I get a lot of 8x10s printed locally and just did some 11x14s. The sizing was off a bit, about 1/8 of an inch or less, but I trimmed them down for the frame just fine.

I also find that I get better results if I use the mail order over the local store. The mail order comes from the main office. I think it is Maryland. But delivery takes a couple of days. Local stores will have most enlargements completed in about an hour.

I just found out Ritzpix.com does canvas. I will have to find something worthy and try it out for grins. -G

I like Costco quality and prices for personal stuff if you have a membership. I also use winkflash for really cheap stuff like pics of the girls for my husband's desk or something since they change so quickly I can barely keep up. My mom orders all sorts of stuff (prints, cards, etc.) from winkflash and is happy with it.

The CHEAPEST I've found is Sam's Club. They print 11x14 for $2.87. However, the quality is not great. I just did a ton of posters for decorations at my son's high school soccer banquet. The colors seemed a lot brighter (too bright) than on my screen, but that could have been my fault, but they served their purpose!
