Evening everyone! I need some guidance on this from anyone who's willing. Shot in mid day with full sun...blah. I like the picture, but really would like the glare removed and some of the reflection. Suggestions, anyone?
I'd really like to join in on some of the workshops if they're in this area sometime! Could use ALOT of guidance here.

how did you shoot this picture? - you said mid-day at full sun? what is causing the reflection in the back - is that a mirror or a window?

It was at the Ft Worth Arts Festival-shot in full sun. It's a framed picture-with the crowd walking by. Any suggestions or should I just trash it? Thanks for any input you can give.

As for what you can do when shooting an image like this - add a polarizer to your lens and adjust it to eliminate the unwanted glare/reflection.

As for what yo can do with the image you have, that would be a challenge to fix in Photoshop.

Thanks Larry I appreciate your feedback. I think I'll trash this one and chalk it up to a lesson learned:)

Removing Glare - 05-03-2008, 12:48 PM

Pamela, it depends upon you degree of patience and whether you feel the time invested is worthwhile. Working with this small an image and not knowing exactly what it is that you want to preserve about the image makes it more difficult. But I have attached a comparison. The leftmost image is your original. The middle image has been worked on using U-Point Technology from Nik (available in Nikon Capture NX or as a plug in for Photoshop.) The third image is the second image with a small amount of cloning (rubber stamp in PS) to smooth out some of the edges. This was probably done in about ten minutes and not as carefully as you could on a larger image. Not sure this is what you are looking for but I thought I would give it a shot. Gary

Wow Gary thank you for showing me what can be done with it. I just recently purchased PS elements 6 and still not sure what I'm doing. Those look much better with your editing:) Not sure what I was going for? Just liked the colors and the introspective look, I guess? I appreciate your input and work on those! Have a great evening.

Get a CP to use when shooting under such conditions.

Pam, you are more than welcome. I also like the image and can see what drew you to it. It if a very haunting image that presents the viewer more questions than answers. I love the colors and the mystery of the image.

I recently read a piece where the author lamented that with digital, photography has lost the accidental that so often presented unexpected but exceptional images in film. I am not sure that is correct. If we look at our digital mistakes I think we can find the accidental is still alive in digital. Unfortunately we are prone to hit the delete before we fully examine our digital mistakes to look for it.
