Talking shooting fireworks using intervolameter?? - 04-29-2008, 09:39 PM

going to DW in Orlando, and staying on property (and opening the wallet already).... taking my d200. Anyone shot fireworks using the intervolameter funtion setting it up on a tripod?? IF so, how did it work out- and any pics to share (with settings- time interval, fstop iso/shutter)?

I am guessing 18mm for a wide shot, but have tried a "real" fw shoot....

Hi Eric,

I'm not familiar with the method you discuss, but I have about 135 shots I took over the 4th of July just playing around with the shutter speed and aperture. You can see them at:

All the exif info you requested is available if you click on the photo and then click on the "more properties" link on the lower right hand side of the screen. It's right under the link that says "taken with a Nikon D80". Hope this helps.

I'm sure you'll really enjoy DW. I haven't been in a while and I wish I had today's equipment back then when my kiddies were small. Have a great trip.

I did it in the park (Epcot) with my mini-not-so-stable tripod, while it was pouring down rain, so here's my best attempt at what works.

f8-16 on bulb, ISO200, 320. Leave the shutter open and cover the lens with the cap (or your hand, easier), expose to light only when the fireworks goes up, you get multiple fireworks on a single frame and it looks awesome! Half way through the cheap ball head snapped apart, and I was left to bracing myself against a railing.

The underexposed part on the left is the top-notch $7 poncho the Disney folks will sell you.
