Ideas & Opinions Please

I’ve been working on a Christmas Card project, and after being on this board for almost a week now, I thought I would be much better off if I ask for ideas. The picture is of the #5 green at Willowfork in Katy.

Below are two versions of a picture shot Christmas Day 2004. The first is a PS-E photo merge of two frames straight out of the camera. The second is cropped, converted to B&W, with several ‘eye sores’ removed. Intentions were to increase contrast, at least in some areas, and try to highlight the snow.

The limit of my knowledge is select an area, say the reeds, then go to ‘enhance’ and work the brightness/contrast until I get something I like.

This picture will never be a candidate for a cover of ‘Snow n Ski’ or anything else for that matter.

I think it would be appreciated by a number of people that golf on this hole regularly.

Christmas day 2004 may well hold the all time Christmas Day snow record for Katy, at least for Willowfork #5, and this is probably a once in a lifetime picture of this green.

Any ideas, opinions, constructive criticism would really be appreciated.

Just really love this stuff

Charles,

I like the BW. I don't think that anyone who is unfamiliar with Willowfork, like myself, would readily identify this as a golf course.
But, if you are using these cards for members only, then I think that it works.

Appreciate your comments.

You are right, it is not readily identifiable as a golf course, there is no flagstick because it was removed by the course superintendent (the course was closed for Christmas).

Also, it is a somewhat bland photo, I have been working with the Brightness/contrast histograms which does seem to help a little.

The target audience is fellow golfers and unsuspecting relatives, who are already used to stuff like this.

Thanks again for you comments.

Charles
