Is your monitor calibrated? - 09-06-2008, 02:10 PM

If so, would you please tell me if these look too red. I worked them on my laptop, which I calibrated using Adobe Gamma, but when I go look on my desktop they look too red. For some reason, I've lost adobe gamma on my desktop, so I'm wondering if it is just not calibrated well. thanks.Name: DSC_0170.jpg

Yes. Way too warm for my taste. #2 looks a bit underexposed as well.

You can not calibrate a display using just adobe gamma. You must use a hardware calibrator and recalibrate monthly.

Get, read and study Real World Color Management

You're third image, second post looks great to me (on my calibrated monitor). The first one may still be on the red side, but is more to my tastes than it was in your first post.

Unfortunately, johnastovall is right about the calibration issue. Only with a colorimeter will the colors be standardized, the brightness set correctly, and the gamma be properly adjusted. The software packages that attempt to "calibrate" without ever measuring the actual colors on your screen may improve your result over nothing, but cannot really deal with the slight variations that occur between RGB colors of various monitors. You will be able to prove this to yourself if you use Abode Gamma on both your machines. You're sure to see a difference between them if you look critically.

You're first image seems to have it's critical focus on the plastic pacifier, rather than the childs eyes. It's those sharply focused, remarkable eyes that make the third shot for me. Your front weighted flash in the first shot has left you with slight shadow from that pacifier as well. If that gadget weren't in front of her face, I'd bet the camera would have nailed the focus on her eyes, and you'd have two killer images in this set of three.
