It makes all the difference... - 09-25-2008, 02:12 PM

I just got back from Montana and Wyoming, and took many images of Bison and other wild life.

My question is, how can I put a white dot on the eyes of the critters that did not cooperative in positioning themselves so they'd get some reflection in the eye(s)?
Those critter's eyes, especially the Bison, blend in with their face and It's difficult to determine the face from the eye(s) without that reflection of light.

I tried to photograph them with the sun behind me but they were not so cooperative. It's amazing how a small white reflection on the eye makes all the difference...

Any help would be appreciated.

Mickie, Star brush? Never seen that in Photoshop. Is it in filters/render?

If you open the image in photoshop, on the left of the full edit mode down towards the bottom is Brush Tool click that then at the top you can choose the brush size ( according to the eye)

There are a bunch of tutorials out there and most of them recommend that whenever you add a catch light to the pupil of an eye, you should also lighten the iris on the opposite side of the catch light.

This one shows how to do both. It has other stuff too, so you might want to skip ahead to about half way through.

Patti, that's a great tutorial. I'm not too up on PS but this I can do.
What I will do is copy, on paper, all the steps he recommends and
go at it.

Mickie, Patti, thank you both for your help.
