I've found that any kind of backlit image comes out flat and boring. By trial and error I discovered the same technique. The only difference is that I use the Landscape Picture Style in DPP to boost the colors and intensity.
Here's a before and after using DPP. The first is straight out of the camera, the second is by adjusting the black point, increasing contrast and saturation, and using Landscape Picture Style. No Photoshop was used except to resize and sharpen. |
