580exII-40d tips - 10-24-2008, 12:09 PM

I just recieved my 580exII flash last night.
I was hoping to use it tonight at the Berry Center capturing the Cheerleaders.
Can anyone give me some quick settings that will get me through tonight (using 580+40d+28-105 5.6is). Or at least a starting point? I have not used flash since the last century.

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks,
Don

I use the same setup (minus the lens), and for indoor, I would try shooting around 1/32 -0.7 setting on the flash, and then just exposing under by 1/3rd of a stop.

If it is still coming out to washed out, i would either lower the exposure some, or lower the flash.

Its hard to just give "preset" settings, as it will change with every lighting situation

Thanks.
I know the setting change set-ups. I just did not have an idea for a starting setup.
