Group Shots - Need Inspiration - 12-10-2008, 08:24 AM

I have to take some shots of a family of 16 to 20 people and need some inspiration. Beside the traditional group shot (everybody standing inf front of some nice background and smiling into the camera) I would love to do some different pictures as well, something not so traditional. I just don't know what and how.
Any ideas how to make these shots a little more special and not so boring (maybe give it a little more dynamic and fun)?
Any sample pictures for inspiration?

Check out this guy

http://www.toogoodstudios.ca/

known on POTN as Toogy.

He has a few group shots in his wedding gallery... i havent seen him post alot of new ones yet. But check out this thread:

I know you're not doing a wedding shot, but it might give you ideas for large groups anyway!

Thanks for posting those links, Rebecca. Very helpful for me, too.

I was going to suggest steps as an easy way to get people on different levels while maintaining a natural look. Or having some seated, some standing, at different distances from the camera. All of that is covered in the link to the POTN thread. Of course, access to a sailboat (per the link) wouldn't be so bad, either!
