Go to a book store near you and look through magazines such as Vogue.
Get a outfit store catalog - I have a catalog of all the different poses from there on my iPhone.
Get a Victoria Secret catalog
Look through Model Mayhem at model's profile photos.

Are you wanting ideas on posing? Or are you trying to figure out how to speak to a client who needs help modeling?

How to coach or pose a client during a shoot if she cannot emulate something in Vogue or another shot. I do not try to copy commericial shots, but sometimes the clients just do not get it and need help explaining it.

The thing with posing, or conveying how to move to someone else is knowing how to pose yourself. Lets say you want the client to do an S curve. Do you know how to put your own body in an S-Curve??? That way, you can show them what to do or break down the steps on how you move your body to get to that pose you want.

You demo and they copy. You will feel and look silly, especially being a guy.....but they will get the point. You practice in a mirror so you know if it looks good, but remember, women have hips!

Then there's no reason to look at magazines or read any books.

But seriously, an untrained model needs to see what she needs to do, and she needs to see what she is doing.
A good full length mirror at the camera can show her what she is doing.
At minimum, you should be showing her the LCD or better yet, a computer screen with the images as you are shooting them.
Dancers and weight lifters work in rooms full of mirrors. It's not because they are vain (well the dancers anyway), but so they can see that what they are doing is technically correct.

If you don't copy what others have done, I'd like to see the poses you are inventing.
