They look like the same photo to me. Also the EXIF data states that they were both shot at the same exact time with the same settings, so I'm gonna assume they are the same shot.

Interesting shot and colors. Very moody!

I prefer the first one, but would like even more to see the first one with just a little bit more of the sky showing up. I think using either the dodge tool or some of the more complicated layering/blending procedures to lighten up parts of the sky, but not the moon, would be my preference.

Patti

I like the saturated purple lights in the first better.

One thing that bothers me in both is the piling (?) to the left. Just watch out for distracting elements at the front or back of any scene you're photographing. That will become second nature with practice.

I like #1 better. More saturation on the ship. If you could lighten the clouds just a bit I think it would make it stronger. The cloud detail looks better in #2. The pointy thing in the front left bothers me as well. You could crop it to make it a fake panorama and lose that thing.

Just use a healing brush and remove the piling.

I like the first on better too - I would also lose the pilon witht the white cap - really distracting in the photo - lighten up the clouds and up the saturation of the ship and I think it will be spankin cool... one other thing on second look I think I would grab the ship and sharpen it a bit...
