Sensor orientation & cleaning - 02-16-2009, 02:49 PM

I have a stubborn piece of grime on my sensor (M2n) and despite several wet cleanings with the Copperhill kit and repeated poofs of air from my bulb blower, the dang spot just will not go away. It's up in a corner so is usually in cropped off area of an image but I want it GONE completely.
It occured to me that if I can figure out which corner of the sensor is the culprit, I can pay extra attention to that area. So... how does the orientation of the sensor translate to the image? Is it reversed? Top to bottom? Side to side? Both?
Any guidance here would be much appreciated! Thanks!

the top is the bottom and the left is right......

but try a swab moistened with isopropyl alcohol. If it can't remove it, it can't be removed. And no, it won't hurt anything.

Only the top and the bottom are reversed, left and right remains the same.

Try a Lenspen CCD cleaning pen before applying wet methods I would recommend.

I have a similar spot, but I'm not sure I understand the answers.

If the spot is in the upper left side of a landscape orientation photo, and I have the lens off and the mirror locked up and am looking into my camera, where do I clean?

If top and bottom are reversed, the spot will be at the bottom of the sensor, but is it on my left or my right as I'm looking into the camera?

Patti

I believe on the right side bottom if you are looking into it... but dont quote me on that.
