Get out of town. Find any of the rivers coming out of the Hill Country and work your way upstream.

Sorry. Landscape and city don't work together for me.

A few places in Austin are Zilker Park and Barton Springs. Now that it's spring, watch for the bluebonnets to start blooming. Also look for the Ladybird Johnson wildflower gardens.

Not far outside of Austin is Lake Travis, the dam, and the surrounding Hill Country. You don't have too go far.

we went ot austin for a downhill skating trip a few weeks back and there are some amazing spots outside of town, maybe the northwest of downtown.

I think a place called Lago Vista possibly had some really nice places.

Once you get outside of downtown it almost looks like hollywood. Beautiful houses and hills everywhere!

I'm wondering if, since you're new here, that you haven't checked out the Austin Locales list at the top of the Austin section. There are all sorts of city and out of town locations listed there.

I've only been to Austin once, but Mount Bonnell was pretty cool. It is the highest point in Austin and you can see the ENTIRE city from that point; well, if you are brave enough to climb on top of the trellis like I did.

Any where is a good place for Landscapes if you use imagination and avoid all the cliche places. Grab a copy of 'The Roads of Texas' and start out on the dirt county roads and look with feeling.
