Austin? That kills it.....

seriously, I've advocated simple for eons. Raised a few eyebrows during my 25+ years in the computer business.....but sometimes, a pencil and paper is just plain easier. When I do presentations today, I only use powerpoint for the bare minimum, but most of the time I'm bleeding on the whiteboard.

I had to have the admin find graph/ quadrille paper the other day and order a box for me. It's my sketch pad.

There's something magical about hearing the heavy clank of my Bronica's shutter, but I'll be damned if developing E-6 in Houston isn't more painful than open heart surgery with an olive fork.

It isn't MF, and it may not mean a whole lot, but the Nikon F6 is b/o'd at B&H. Interesting.

I have toyed with the idea of introducing some film work into my business. Just haven't made the decision firm yet.

Maybe the F6 isn't produced in very high volume. Like their film scanners before they dumped them, Nikon only built enough to keep the die hards clamoring for the next shipment.

Yeah, good point. Hadn't thought of that.

Y'know, any time one of these guys wants to dump their obsolete gear and go back to film, I'd be more than happy to take their digital gear off of them.

I'd hate for them to be troubled by a thousands of dollars of worthless digital equipment sitting in a closet somewhere.

Depends on the business. There are folks selling film based photographs.

I seem to be much more tolerant of and appreciate all media. Right tool for the job and all that.

Sorry, that came off a bit more harsh than I intended.

I tend to look at film with an appreciation of what it was more than a realistic medium for current times. I'm fairly intolerant of it as a tool. Of course I also got tossed out of architecture school for refusing not to use AutoCAD...

Grinning. I left my board tools behind in 1981. there are days when I wish I had never heard of AutoCAD or Inventor. No doubt I clung to film to escape computers.

In the fine art business, film is still the king. I have two images in a juried show that is opening tomorrow. One of the images is from a Fujichrome slide taken in 1991, and the other is from a color negative from 1999. I submitted 4 images in total to the call for entries, 2 were film and 2 digital. These are all submitted anonymously, with no info included with the photo. The jury chose the two film pics, and passed on the 2 digital captures.

Congratulations! Where is the show?

There are still film only juried shows.

It's comforting to also know that as long as a few simple chemicals are available, we can make our own.
