I have to agree, too much glow....but maybe that was the style she wanted? Not sold on the last one. I would have liked to see her face sharper.

Too many bricks that are too sharp. Is the focus a beautiful lady or nice bricks?

Yeah i agree with the last one being blown out. I was messing with it and just liked the way it looked. Kind of like a painting or drawing. as far as the glow i was just messing around some PS plugin. thanks for the responses. also they got a little fusier when i posted the pictures, they look a little sharper on my comp.

Beautiful girl!

For my tastes, in a couple, the face seems too shadowed, and her shoulder over lit.

The eyes should always be in sharp focus.

The bricks are too "busy", and detract from the girl, as does the bright triangle at the right. They add nothing to the portrait.

Cropping to eliminate most of the distracting elements, and moving her a few feet away from the background would soften the emphasis on the bricks, and showcase her.

The last photo: The less said the better...

I like the last one quite a bit. Maybe a little less contrast... but, maybe not.

The others seem like they could be better if you didn't blur her so much. I like the overall feel of the pictures, but you need to make the girl pop a little more. She almost camouflages with the background.

it looks to me like you had to use photoshop to try to cover some more than questionable lighting, exposure and focus. i'd like to see the originals in order to c&c

Way too much photoshop.

Also why did you pose her at the bricks? I would have brought her about 5 ft out from the bricks (if lighting allowed that) then dropped the F down to about a 4.0 or so and do some brokah to smooth the harshness of the bricks out.

I agree that they all appear to be over-Photoshopped, but I have to say I think you did a great job on composition, and on catching her with good poses and expressions. I LOVE the expression on #3! : )

ETA: Is she really as tall as she looks in #1?? She's ALL legs!!

hi andy - thanks for posting a bare photo. she is a lovely girl. i think you may just need a little help with processing to bring these photos up a bit. i put a side by side comparison up with just a bit of a level and white balance adjustment.

another thing you can watch for - is bringing your subject away from the background, ie, the tree. that way your camera is able to focus on the subject, and not the background. this is a strange ratio crop here, and you should keep that in mind when you do crop photos is try to stick with the standard ratios, 2:3, 4:5, etc.

photoshop can be your best friend, or your worst enemy depending on how you use it.
