Lubbock Police Special Olympics Marathon

As I returned from my vacation through West Texas Wednesday evening, I happened to encounter the Lubbock police running the Special Olympics torch from Lubbock to Arlington, a 330 mile marathon. I shot several photos of them a few miles East of Abilene. The officers are due to arrive in Arlington on Friday for the start of the Special Olympics.

Nice Richard! I like the last two best. They seem to portray more of the scope of the situation. (that probably makes sense to only me,LOL) The special olympics is a very special event. Hope they have a great turn out & a lot of locals get involved!! Good job here of taking an opportunity to record-thks!

Where is the flame???

I'm not sure, but I think it is normal for the runner to carry a mock torch and the flame to be contained inside the vehicle. That's partly for safety. It would be bad if the runner accidentally dropped the flame on dry grass!
